About Tom Greer

Tom and his brother Jason purchased Ironworks Fitness Clubs in 2004, and they have effectively given the gym a feel and reputation that is unmatched by any other gym in Philadelphia. Tom manages both Ironworks Fitness Clubs locations in addition to training a full book of clients and teaching classes.

These gyms are family owned and operated, and possess an endearing quality that makes them feel like a home to all of its members. Tom has worked tirelessly to transform both Ironworks locations into warm and welcoming environments, as well as welcoming every member to be a part of his family.

Tom is a lifetime fitness enthusiast, and a strong proponent of living a healthy and productive lifestyle through implementing fitness into everyday life. He believes in the power of progress and accomplishment through fitness, and this philosophy is evident when observing his unwavering work ethic in regards to running his gyms, his personal fitness, his training of clients, and his devotion to the health and welfare of his family.

As a Personal Trainer Tom tends to focus on building a complete athlete by implementing an array of training techniques for each of his clients. By providing the option to run, lift, or engage in plyometric training (just to name a few) Tom keeps his clients guessing, as well as making strides toward total progress. Multiple training options are not available from most trainers, but Tom strives to provide his clients with the ability to choose from a wide variety of fitness goals and strategies.

In addition to Personal Training and the responsibilities of running the gyms, Tom also teaches a running class. His class entails running distance both indoors and outdoors depending on the weather. When the weather permits the class to go outside, the run takes place running across the Ben Franklin Bridge. Inclement weather sometimes forces the class to take place inside on treadmills. Indoor classes cover an array of running training techniques including interval training, sprint technique, and incline running/walking. The duration of each class is approximately 40 minutes, and covers about 3.5 miles.

Robert Gerber robbieg@mymacmail.com

After graduating with a BFA in graphic design from the Art Institute of Philadelphia, Robert was faced with the prospect of sitting at a computer for 8 hours a day. Having seen first hand the benefits of exercise, Robert decided that he wanted to help others see what a healthy lifestyle could do for them. So he enrolled in and graduated from the National Personal Training Institute here in Philadelphia. Now a certified personal fitness trainer, he hopes to pass on the knowledge he gained to show people that exercise benefits both body and mind.
